Frequently asked questions about this series
Can the CD series also be fed with demineralised water?
Yes, we even recommend using demineralised water, as all steam- and water-carrying components are already made of stainless steel.
What is the minimum inlet pressure required for the feedwater line?
All systems in this series have a feedwater pump that delivers the feedwater into the boiler. An inlet pressure of approximately 1.0 bar(g) is therefore sufficient. Please note that the feedwater pump is not self-priming.
Does the system have an automatic blowdown function?
Yes, all systems in this series have a pneumatically (compressed air) controlled automatic blowdown. It prevents deposits on the boiler floor by briefly opening the bottom valve at regular intervals (usually once an hour). The interval can be adjusted to suit the feedwater quality.
Which pressure ratings can be run?
The pressure rating can be freely selected — on the 5 bar variants from 1.0 to 5.0 bar(g), on the 10 bar variants from 1.0 to 10.0 bar(g).
Can the heating output be reduced, e.g. where the available connected load is limited?
Yes, by switching off individual heating elements. For example, a CD72S-E-5 (72 kW) becomes a CD36S-E-5 (36 kW) when 4 of the 8 heating elements are switched off. We are happy to equip the system with an optional selector switch, allowing you to set up to three different heating levels.
What should be observed when connecting the safety valve line?
The safety valve line should always be routed to the open air without pressure. Make sure that the outlet is positioned so that nobody is put at risk if the safety valve releases unexpectedly.
Do the horizontal and vertical configurations differ?
The only difference lies in the dimensions. The horizontal configuration is an advantage if the route to the installation site is restricted by narrow doors or lifts, as the individual modules can be brought in separately and are only assembled into one connected system at the installation site.
